Once there, everyone filed into the Willis Room, where Jon was already hard at work filling blank paper with his drawings. With a few lines and shapes, Jon turned a white sheet of paper into a world where hamburgers fly and polar bears romp in blizzards. He told stories about his new puppy, his first book, and his method for creating palindromes and anagrams.
The WT fifth graders were especially fortunate--they had a chance to work together to create their own palindrome illustrations, complete a "Jon Agee Quiz," and have their pictures taken. Another lucky, essay-writing few joined Jon for lunch, where they learned about why he draws so many of his characters with mustaches!
After the presenations, Jon signed all of the books ordered by students, giving them a lasting souvenir to remember the day. Thanks, WT students, for participating in the author visit day! And, most of all, thank you to Jon Agee for giving us a glimpse into the life of an author!
